Fitness for Work
Fitness for Work refers to a state, whether physical, mental or emotional, which enables an individual to perform an assigned task competently and safely. An individual's fitness for work may be adversely affected for a variety of reasons, including (but not limited to):
- Physical condition
- Knowledge, skills or training to complete the task safely
- Medical conditions
- Emotional state
- Fatigue
- Stress
- Alcohol
- Drugs
G & S Transport is committed to promoting a healthy and productive work force achieved through the HSECQ management system with an emphasis upon:
- Ensuring employees have the knowledge, attitudes and skills to manage their own fitness for work.
- Educating employees to recognise potential fitness for work issues and manage them effectively and constructively.
- Committing adequate resources to implement fitness for work programs, education and support where required.
- Compliance with state and national legislation and operating standards (both internal and external) for the safe operation of heavy vehicles.
- Planning and scheduling of services and deliveries to incorporate fitness for work requirements.
Fitness for work is a shared responsibility between management and employees as it involves influences both internal and external to the work environment.
